With the scent of orange osmanthus, the annual orientation work was carried out in the golden month of September. On September 1st, new postgraduates enrolled in 2022 came to ZUEL with their expectations for new life here. All the staff and volunteers for the orientation of SBA welcomed the new students with full enthusiasm at the orientation site on Zinian Road, Southern Lake Campus of ZUEL.
The university and the school attached great importance to the arrival of new postgraduates. Luan Yongyu, Secretary of the Party Committee of the university, Yang Canming, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the university and President of the university, together with other leading members of the Party Committee of the university, visited the volunteers and staff for the orientation at the orientation site; Wang Hualu, Secretary of the Party Committee of SBA, Associate Dean Wu Haitao, and Zhu Yanping, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the school, guided orientation work of SBA and expressed their thanks. The leaders of the university and the school affirmed the work of the postgraduate orientation team and urged them to welcome the new students with the most enthusiastic and considerate service.
The successful orientation was based on adequate preparation by the faculties of the SBA and the students of the school's postgraduate union a week ago. On August 24th, Teacher Zhao Yuanyuan, the counselor for students enrolled in 2022, organized a meeting with members of the school's postgraduate union to make detailed arrangements for the orientation. From August 30th to 31st, members of the postgraduate union worked together to arrange different positions according to the orientation process and recruit and train volunteers in line with their positions.
At eight o'clock on the morning of September 1st, the staff and volunteers for the orientation of SBA quickly adjusted themselves into the working state, carried materials, pitched tents, and placed items for orientation. After completing the preparation work in an efficient and orderly manner, they waited for the arrival of new postgraduate students.
At about 8:10 a.m., new postgraduate students arrived at the campus one after another. The volunteers served students enthusiastically, issued university cards, badges and other necessary items for registration, and guided the new students to finish the registration procedures. Staff at the site patiently answered students' questions about the campus environment, the general condition of the school, and study life while volunteers enthusiastically carried luggage for new students. Besides, the site was also equipped with disinfectant hand sanitizer, masks, and other epidemic prevention materials, taking practical action to actively prevent and control the epidemic. Under the strict and scientific arrangement, the orientation work was carried out in an orderly manner.
Customized posters and handheld signs were set up at the orientation site for new students to take photos, gaining wide praise. Many new students expressed that, with the answers and help from faculties and senior students of the school, they were full of expectations for their future postgraduate life. Students hoped that they can integrate into the school as soon as possible, and continuously improve their quality and ability to contribute to the construction and development of the school.
In order to implement the practical activities of Party members and cadres to visit the grass-roots, solve people's problems and warm people's hearts, at 3:00 p.m., Wu Haitao, the school's Associate Dean, Zhu Yanping, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, the postgraduate counselors including Zhao Yuanyuan, Jiang Qianqian, Xu Yiling, Jiang Weimin, and student volunteers visited the new students in their dormitories and communicated with them cordially. Associate Dean Wu Haitao expressed his concern for students' adaptation to the living environment and his earnest expectation for students of various majors. He encouraged them to actively adapt to the dormitory environment and campus life and get along with people and things around them. Deputy Secretary Zhu Yanping asked about the students' travel and arrival, encouraged them to cherish their friendships and help each other, urged them to pay attention to epidemic prevention and control and personal property safety, and encouraged them to be pioneers in study and morality. The students expressed that the beautiful campus environment, the warm and friendly senior students, and the visits of the leaders and faculties made them feel the cohesiveness of SBA and have a bright vision and unlimited expectations for their future postgraduate life.
At 6:00 p.m., the orientation work was coming to an end and most of the new students had completed the enrollment and registration procedures. After the formal orientation, the counselors and student cadres of the school's postgraduate union would help the new students who had been suspended from going to school due to the epidemic to complete the registration. The hard-working staff and caring faculties have sent the first warmth to the postgraduate students enrolled in 2022. In the near future, the school would also carry out a series of thematic education activities for new students.
