At 16:00 on October 15, 2019, SBA held a research meeting on professional curriculum and Responsible Management education of doctoral education in the new era in the Drucker Conference Room of Wenquan Building. The research meeting was presided over by Associate Dean Wu Haitao, and school counselors for graduates and representatives of doctoral students of various majors participated in the meeting.

At the beginning of the meeting, Wu briefly introduced the keynote speech delivered by General Secretary Xi Jinping at the National Conference on Responsible Management Work in Colleges and Universities. Xi pointed out that we should give priority to instilling moral values in students, and carry out ideological and political work throughout the whole process of education, so as to foster students in the whole process and from all sectors and strive to move higher education into a new level. At the same time, Wu emphasized that doctoral education is an important channel to cultivate top-level talents, and SBA should cultivate benevolent doctoral students with remarkable ability. The meeting focused on four topics: 1. the relationship between Responsible Management education and professional courses. 2. which professional courses combine Xi Jinpings Thought on Socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era and how to link them. 3. how to produces positive effects in the process of the integration of Responsible Management education and professional courses and what problems ensue. 4. the merits and shortcomings of Responsible Management education in the process of teaching and guidance for graduates.

At the meeting, the representatives of doctoral students from various majors expressed their views on the integration of Responsible Management education and professional courses. Among them, Shan Ling, majoring in Land Resources Management, thought that Responsible Management education can be combined in and out of class. In class, teachers instruct the students to choose thesis topics based on national policies, and mentioned that lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets which can be applied to thesis. While after class, teachers encourage students to pursue academic integrity and guide to develop correct values through their personal work and life experience. In addition, Ren Fei, majoring in Tourism Management, said that Responsible Management education is very closely associated with real life, and that many of the examples she learned during his graduate education were borrowed from foreign countries. But many new phenomena that emerged in China in the past two years could not be found in foreign countries, reflecting the features of the new era. At the same time, she took her own professional study as an example, pointing out that her tutor often emphasized that rural tourism planning and special town planning should be built without destroying the original characteristics in order to protect local culture.

At last, Wu drew a conclusion and hoped that students can combine academic research into China’s reality, integrate Responsible Management education with life and study, and reinforce them. This meeting has proven to be a success.
