Field Research Promotes Responsible Management Education and On-the-spot Teaching Tour

On May 28,2022,Associate Professor Zhang Dapeng from the Department of Tourism Management(DTM) took his postgraduate students to the Wuchang Uprising Memorial Hall of Xinhai Revolution, Wuhan RevolutionaryMuseum (the site of the Fifth National Congress of the Communist Party of China,Mao Zedong 's Former Residenceand the Central Farmer Training Institute in Wuchang District) and Hankow Customs House Museum where an on-the-spot teaching activity on the theme of “Revisiting Revolutionary History, Passing Down the Fine Traditions of the Party, and Being a Pioneer of a Strong Nation was carried out in this tour. This activity was an importan initiative of the Party branch of DTM in promoting ideological-political education with the guidance of the field Party building.Itwas also regarded as one of the practical achievements of the demonstration course construction project of “CPC Heritage Tour for postgraduates of ZUEL in 2022 as well as the project of Party building theory research and practice innovation plan in 2022“Studies on the Fumction of CPC Heritage Tour in Strengthening Patriotism Education for College Students in the New Era and Measures.That's why it has gotten great support from the postgraduate office of the school.


In front of the Wuchang Uprising Memorial Hall of Xinhai Revolution, the first stop of this trip, Zhang Dapeng introduced in detail the process of the Xinhai Revolution and its significance in the history of the development of the Chinese nation, while the interpreter of the memorial hall elaborated the history of the development of the memorialhall so that the students could deeply understand the struggle of the martyrs during the visit. After the visit, ZhangDapeng conducted a knowledge quiz on the process of Wuchang Uprising and the revolution's main leaders with the students to deepen their understanding of the history of the Xinhai Revolution. Students' active participation brought a hot atmosphere. Chen Chan said,As contemporary youth, we should carry forward the revolutionary spirit,bepioneers in the journey of national rejuvenation, and contribute to building a modern socialist country.


Afterwards, at the Wuhan Revolutionary Museum, students first visited the hall for memorizing Martyr ChenTanqiu's revolutionary activities in early time, where the CPC Fifth National Congress was held from April 27 to May9,1927.The first disciplinary organ in the history of the Chinese Communist Party,the Central Supervisory Commission (the predecessor of the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection), was born here. In the hall of the meeting site, Chen Ronggui, as a student representative, explained the background, main contents, andhistorical significance of the Fifth Congress of the CPC.


In addition, all students visited the Former Residence of Mao Zedong and the Central Farmer Training Institute in Wuchang District. The Former Residence of Mao Zedong is located at No.41, Dufudi Street, Wuchang District, whichwas the office and residence of Mao Zedong when he took charge of the work of the Central Farmer Training Institutein 1927 and engaged in revolutionary activities. It was also the official location of the Agricultural Commission of theCPC Central Committe at that time. Mao Zedong also had the last family reunion and completed the famous Reporton Hunan Farmers ' Movement here.


The Central Farmer Training Institute in Wuchang District, located at No.13,Hongxiang Street, Wuchang District,was a school for training cadres of the national farmer movement founded and taken charge by Comrade Mao Zedong during the First Round of KMT-CPC Cooperation. Student representative Zou Juan also explained the educational policy, cadre groups and historical status of the Central Farmer Training Institute in Wuchang District in the largeclassroom of the institute.Finally, Zhang Dapeng led all students to the Hankow Customs House Museum by ferry. Onthe way, they passed by the Wuhan Yangtze River Bridge, which is called the First Bridge of the Yangtze River for Ten Thousand Miles , and then Zhang Dapeng talked about the history of the Yangtze River Bridge for the students.The Yangtze River Bridge was the first road and rail bridge built after the founding of the People 's Republic of China.which was the result of the hard work of the Wuhan people, reflecting their heroic spirit of perseverance and struggle.


In accordance with the process of development of modern Wuhan, the museum is divided into three areas with different topics: Opening of Hankow as a Commercial Port -- Beginning of Wuhan's Urban Modernization, DifficultTrek -- Exploration and Decision of Wuhan's Urban Modernization, and“Towards Glory -- Development and Prosperity of Wuhan's Urban Modernization,which presents and explains Wuhan's long history and culture of different stages.


Utilizing the rich CPC heritage and cultural resources of Wuhan, this activity has conducted ideological-politicaleducation in practices, exerting a salutary influence of education on students. The revolutionary history, tradition and spirits were transmitted to the contemporary young postgraduates through tourism. The activity has ended, but young people are still on their way of struggle.


Young postgraduates should inherit the revolutionary culture,carry forward the revolutionary spirit,do solid research for the country, and assume the great responsibility of national rejuvenation!
